This basic arthroscopy workshop covers the principles and utility of small animal arthroscopy. The participant will gain understanding of the diagnostic and therapeutic indications as well as of the equipment needed.
Arthroscopy is a useful diagnostic and therapeutic tool used in small animal orthopedics. During this course the participant will learn:
- to use arthroscopic equipment (arthroscope, camera, light, instrumentation, shaver);
- the indications for, as well as
- the limitations of arthroscopy.
Basic joint pathologies and joints where arthroscopy is usefull will be discussed. Arthroscopy of the elbow, shoulder and stifle will be performed practically.
Notification: Our IVC Evidensia philosophy is that attending education is not the same as being entrusted to “perform the task”. Performing arthroscopy is a high-end orthopedic procedure meant to be performed by intensively trained and assessed colleagues (e.g. specialists, working in a referral care setting) that are entrusted to perform this task.
This course will be taught in English.
