Orthopedics: Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) – Basic

TPLO is the gold standard surgical procedure for management of cranial cruciate ligament disease of the canine stifle.
This Basic TPLO Workshop covers the understanding of the rationale and principles of TPLO.

In this workshop you will learn to understand the biomechanical principles, rationale and case selection to be successful at TPLO. The technique will be planned and practiced on medium- to large breeds where locking implants will be utilized. Emphasis will be made on the appropriate planning, surgical approach and execution of the procedure as well as handling the required surgical instruments and locking implants where practical tips will be given. Basic knowledge of the local anatomy and the principles of bone plating is required to participate in this workshop.

Notification: Our IVC Evidensia philosophy is that attending education is not the same as being entrusted to “perform the task”. Performing a TPLO is a high-end orthopedic procedure meant to be performed by intensively trained and assessed colleagues (e.g. specialists, working in a referral care setting) that are entrusted to perform this task.

This course will be taught in English.
