Mark Dirven
Mark Dirven, EBVS® European Veterinary Specialist in Small Animal Cardiology, DiplomateECVIM-CA Cardiology, Head of Cardiology at Evidensia Södra Djursjukhuset Kungens Kurva, Mentor and trainer in cardiology within the Central Veterinary team of Evidensia. Mark graduated as a DVM from Utrecht University The Netherlands in 2004. After graduation he worked in several clinics in The Netherlands where he gained experience and received additional training in the fields of internal medicine, abdominal ultrasonography, cardiology and echocardiography. In March 2017 he passed his certifying exam to become a European specialist in cardiology (Diplomate ECVIM-CA Cardiology). In January 2019 Mark moved from the Netherlands to Sweden where he is based at one of the largest companion animal hospitals in Europe, Evidensia Södra animal hospital in the Stockholm area. He leads the cardio department of the hospital where he is involved in patient care, research and teaching of vets, nurses and cardiologists in training. He is also responsible for the post graduate cardiology education within the entire Evidensia chain of hospitals in Sweden. Additionally, he is an associate editor for the Journal of Veterinary Cardiology and a board member of the European Society of Veterinary Cardiology. One of his major teaching goals is to translate science into practice.
