- The first two days of the course will be dedicated to preventive medicine in small mammals, birds and reptiles. It intends to get you more familiar with daily medicine in small mammals, birds, reptiles. It will provide you with a good foundation in anatomy, physiology, husbandry, physical examination, vaccination, parasitic treatment & prevention of common diseases. We will also address clinical examination and treatment techniques (blood collection, blood smears, placement of IV catheter). We will discuss some interactive cases with radiographs and/or ultrasounds.
Common exotic species will be presented through the lectures. - The third day of the course will be dedicated to emergency medicine in small mammals, birds and reptiles. This course will cover emergency triage in exotic pet, the most common emergency cases and their management.
