DVM, MSc (Hons), EBVS board certified (neurology), Dip. ECVNIVC Evidensia Lead NeurologistKoen Santifort graduated cum laude from the Utrecht University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the Netherlands in 2015 (MSc DVM). Until 2020, he worked in general and referral practice before starting his ECVN residency. He finished his residency end 2022 and became a diplomate ECVN in February 2024. He has published more than 50 English-language, scientific, peer-reviewed articles in the field of veterinary neurology, many of which highlight unique and/or educational features of neurological patients. In addition to his clinical work, he is actively involved in research and collaborates with an enthusiastic team of veterinary nurses and neurologists to provide the best possible care for neurology patients. His passion lies in clinical neurology and neurosurgery.
Niklas Bergknut
DVM, Dipl ECVN. After graduating from The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala 2000, Niklas worked as a small animal clinician in Sweden and the U.K. for six years. He thereafter started a joint PhD project between Sweden and the Netherlands 2007-2010, on the topic of intervertebral disc degeneration. After completion of the PhD he stayed at Utrecht University where he completed his European specialist training in veterinary Neurology and worked as a lecturer until 2016. In August 2016 Niklas moved to the U.K. and worked at North Downs Specialist Referrals for two years before moving back to the Netherlands to take on the role as head of Neurology and neurosurgery for Evidensia. Niklas is passionate about sharing the wonderful world of neurology and frequently lectures on different neurology topics. He has also published numerous scientific articles and book chapters among chapters in Veterinary Clinics of North America and Veterinary Surgery (Tobias 2nd edition).
